The first magazine contents page is from a magazine called 'Esquire'.
The colour used in the contents page is pretty straight forward. The only colours used alot are black and white. However, its not old fashioned, its quite new. Most of the font is in black and the background is white because the two colours compliment each other.
The pictures used are used to try and show the matureness but not grandad style of the magazine. The pictures are used to try and look like their ideal reader being in their late 20's early 30's.
The font is simply and plainly bold and normal. its not fancy or street etc because this is not what their audience is into. It is simple and to the point.
The layout is quite complex. I think someone reading this magazine would generally be quite intellectuel so the language and layout represent this.
The second magazine contents page is from 'ELLE'
The colour in ELLE is straight forward aswell. There is black, white and red. the red is used because the front cover masthead is always in red so it would look odd if the font were in green.
There are only two pictures used in this contents one is a action shot of a woman dancing and another is a womans portrait. i think these aer used to ahow the fun side and the serious side of the magazine. to show the connection with the reader. I cant reall see the font very well but it looks plain and straight forward to show the professionalism of the magazine. the layout is simple. pictures with text and simple contents in rows. i think this is used becuase it make the page look neater and more professional.
